Manager - Structural Engineer

Job Description:

The Structural Engineering Manager is responsible to provide project management, analysis, assessments and calculations, mentorship and site reviews for our firm. Working closely with the management team, provide a high level of customer service to our clients while consistently providing solid structural details and analysis.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform assessments and structural feasibilities on building integrity, remedial approaches, and retrofits for structural solutions; prepare reports and designs based on findings/investigations
  • Conduct construction site reviews; ensure work is performed in accordance with original engineered specifications
  • Manage and monitor projects through phases
  • Prepare quotes and/or proposals for new project work
  • Mentor and assist in developing junior engineering staff

 

Job Requirements

  • 10 years of relevant experience in structural design or construction environment including a variety of successfully managed projects
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Ontario with a degree in Civil Engineering (Structural Major)
  • Strong Knowledge of Ontario Building Code, and the Occupational Health and Safety and the Construction Lien Acts for construction industry
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, by-laws and codes affecting residential development and commercial construction
  • Demonstrated understanding of engineering theories and principles
  • Able to communicate ideas and recommendations to non-engineer team members in a clear manner
  • Excellent time management and project management skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, and structural analysis software (STADD, SAP 2000) are required and Revit Structure is an asset
  • Strong knowledge of the OCB, OHSA and Construction Lien Acts
  • High level of sound and independent judgment and reasoning
  • Effective leadership skills required

  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Some travel may be required
  • Ability to attend and conduct presentations
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals
  • Ability to physically implement designs
  • Overtime as required
  • May be exposed to construction sites
  • Weekend work may be required
