Construction Health and Safety Supervisor

Job Descriptions:

  • Organize and/ or conduct site orientations, training and safety talks
  • Perform site inspections using audit tool, and/or internal processes to ensure a hazard-free environment.
  • Verify list of project tools, equipment and machinery. Confirm they are adequate and safe for use, and confirm operator/user training.
  • Pro-active approach to Health, Safety, Infection Control and Environmental hazards.
  • Pre-project assessments, including development of site-specific safety plans and procedures.
  • Prepare Start-Up documents such as subcontractor plans, site signage, supervisor’s documents, project hazards, risks and control measures etc.
  • Review health and safety documents from site supervisors, subcontractors and clients.
  • Organize and/ or conduct site orientations, training and safety talks
  • Perform site inspections using audit tool, and/or internal processes to ensure a hazard-free environment.
  • Verify list of project tools, equipment and machinery. Confirm they are adequate and safe for use, and confirm operator/user training.
  • Evaluate emergency response and written plans. Arrange for drills to evaluate effectiveness.
  • Assist with accident/ incident/ near miss/ spill/ prescribed events reporting. Verify that reports are completed and sent to relevant agencies (i.e. MOL, MOE, WSIB, Trade Union, JHSC).
  • Implement company and legislative initiatives, and assess areas for improvement.
  • Assist in auditing tracking and development
  • Control and monitor safety training for all employees
  • Develop and track sub-contractor safety plans, etc….

 

Job Requirements:

  • Certified Health and Safety Representative, under WSIB or MOL
  • Working at Heights, valid and approved by MOL
  • Basics of Supervision course
  • Valid First Aid, CPR and AED, approved by WSIB
  • Respiratory Fit Test for full and half face mask (desired)
  • Asbestos Awareness, Type 1 and Type 2 Operations (desired)
  • Infection Control CSA approved training Part 1 and 2 (desired)
  • Team Orientated and able to engage with clients, supervisors and workers
  • Knowledge of construction and the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act, and Construction Regulations
  • Effective Written and Oral Communication
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Ability to make decisions with strong leadership skills
  • Organized, with effective time management
  • Willing to travel with valid driver's license
