Intermediate Project Designer

Job Descriptions:

  • Develop and coordinates detailed design plans & concepts meeting functional requirements and project-design criteria
  • Ability to create documents for presentation that showcase strong graphic skillset
  • Demonstrates a keen understanding of the architectural design process and integration of interior design concepts
  • Ability to read & comprehend consultants’ (architectural & MEP) drawings
  • Interest in multiple avenues of design, including residential
  • Committed team member eager to collaborate with colleagues, willingly accept & offer opinions and feedback to enhance design work
  • Liaises with suppliers and trades, keep up-to-date with industry information and new products on the market
  • Works with PM team to act as a connection between client and construction team
  • Assists with building and maintaining sample library
  • Provides other duties as requested and required
  • Develop and Implement company policies
  • Conduct employee exit interviews to gain valuable insight into employees’ experiences.
  • Develop initiatives and programs related to employee retention through surveys
  • Represent the company brand for recruitment purposes, sell the company vision, business, and culture.
  • Facilitate onboarding for new and transferring employees to ensure the best experience possible
  • Support and guide managers to assist in fulfilling their people management functions
  • Work with managers to assist in developing staff for long-term careers at the company
  • Provide other duties as requested and require
  • Liaison between employees and insurance providers to assist in resolving benefit related issues

 

Job Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of industry experience in corporate/commercial design resulting in a strong portfolio of work
  • Ability to sketch and hand render
  • Knowledge of construction practices & procedures considered an asset
  • Keen understanding of commercial lease agreements and key terminology
  • Strong computer skills – CAD &/or Revit, Photoshop, InDesign, Sketch-Up
  • Strong competency in interior design specifications, calculations and industry standards and application of building codes (National, OBC, CSA, etc.)
  • Ability to problem solve while under pressure, within a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to take direction from senior management and collaborate with all teams and team members in a professional manner
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills
  • Proven ability to lead and guide Junior staff to aid in professional development
  • A go-getter attitude with an entrepreneurial spirit, driven to see quality results for clients
  • Successful completion of a University or College Degree in Interior Design and/or Architecture
  • Desire to obtain NCIDQ or BCIN designation considered an asset
