Director of Finance & Administration

Job Descriptions:

  • Responsibility over planning, implementing, managing and controlling all financial related activities, systems and controls in order to ensure complete, accurate and timely reporting in accordance with ASPE and other regulatory requirements
  • Interpret financial results to the Executive Team in order to assess business performance and make recommendations for improvement and sound financial strategies
  • Lead business planning process including job costing, annual operating plan, annual budget and monthly/quarterly forecast
  • Provide corporate financial stewardship to the divisions for the protection of company assets and the implementation of corporate financial policies
  • Design and implement systems of measurement to improve performance in areas of margins, forecasting, working capital, and operations
  • Oversee treasury and compliance with covenants of the divisions
  • Liaise with private and institutional lenders to secure financing
  • Evaluate and negotiate potential acquisitions and divestures of assets
  • Build strong relations with other divisions, team members, property managers and stakeholders
  • Develop, mentor and lead the construction and leasing Accounting Team
  • Work with the Executive Team to establish and monitor key operating ratios; continually evaluating and improving financial performance
  • Implementing best practice internal controls and company policies and procedures
  • Lead system improvements to automate and streamline existing financial processes
  • Complete any additional projects which may be assigned to meet the needs of the business
  • Manage annual audit conducted by third party auditor to ensure timely and on budget completion

 

Job Requirements:

  • Accounting designation (CA, CMA, CGA, CPA) with relevant industry experience
  • Bachelor degree in Business, Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years experience in a construction and/or leasing role
  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years experience in a supervisory role
  • Must be a skilled communicator, with well-developed verbal, written and presentation ability
  • Proven success in analyzing financial information and business operations with positive bottom line impact
  • Proven success in leadership roles to lead an existing team
  • Highly motivated with a desire to win, relentless in the pursuit of improvement
  • Provide direction and leadership to the construction and leasing Accounting Team
  • Supervisory responsibility for accounting controls and procedures
  • Recruitment, motivation, selection, training and promotion of financial staff
  • Must be computer proficient, especially in specialized software necessary for the fulfillment of the role (Timberline & SAP)
