Job Order: DA-1574

Job Descriptions:

  • Respond to internal and external client inquiries for costing of project work
  • Undertake estimates ranging from order of magnitude to Class A estimates
  • Prepare detailed estimates, quantity takeoffs and visit potential work sites as required
  • Undertake preconstruction development, including project scope and critical path scheduling, and identify the associated risks/issues
  • Undertake conceptual estimates based on space plans, preliminary drawings and scopes of work
  • Request, evaluate and recommend sub-trade quotations where applicable and ensure accuracy and conformance to project plans and specifications
  • Communicate effectively with Owners and Architects and in a professional manner to develop your relationships and ensure repeat business
  • Work with Project Managers to plan a construction project and prepare a construction schedule in conjunction with the Project Superintendent as required
  • Identify scope changes, if any, between “issued for construction” drawings and “tender” package drawings
  • Be a resource for Project Managers as the construction of a project progresses
  • Provide other duties as requested and require



Job Requirements:

  • University or College Degree in Engineering/Technical curriculum or equivalent professional experience
  • CET and Gold Seal Certification in Estimating an asset
  • Valid G Driver’s license
  • 1-3 years for Junior level, 4-6 years for Intermediate level, and 7+ years for Senior level - related estimating experience in ICI Construction with emphasis on commercial buildings and interiors
  • Experience in project management considered an asset
  • Proficient computer skills in MS products
  • Experience in undertaking conceptual estimates
  • Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards and their impact on project activities
  • Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings; including architectural,
  • structural, mechanical and electrical
  • Effective decision-making skills
  • Crisis resolution and risk management
  • Strong organizational skills with proven efficiency to handle estimates and project work concurrently
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills and proven ability to effectively
  • communicate with all levels of an organization
  • Ability to work under time constraints in a high-volume environment and adapt to change
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work within a team environment
