Point person for complete, timely, and accurate month end processing and reporting of individual and consolidated entities including variance-to-Plan analysis and coordination of report inputs within the organization and department
Provides supervisory oversight to daily accounting functions including receivables/revenue, payables/expenditures, inventories/purchasing, fixed assets, cash
Assists Director of Finance with developing talent and skills of the finance team
Management of the month-end and year-end close process: including, consolidation of the organization's results and ensuring completeness and timeliness
Management of retail accounting including monitoring POS interface inventory transfers and cash audits
Assists Director of Finance with providing critical support and guidance on the appropriate accounting treatment of complex business transactions (ASPE and IFRS) including M&A
Supports the Director of Finance and Business Development team in completing the assimilation of operations and reporting of acquired operations
Responsible for maintaining and improving internal control mechanisms and introducing accounting policies to facilitate the complete, timely and accurate rendering of financial statements and reporting
Oversees the reporting and uploading of Business Plans and (Re)Forecasts
Accountable for ensuring company's IFRS compliance
Manages external audits
Assists with special projects as necessary
Ad hoc assignments as necessary
Bachelors Degree in Accounting with Designation: CPA/CA/CGA/CMA
Minimum 8-10 years of work experience in both public accounting and industry
Solid accounting skills
Working knowledge of ERP (NAV / Business Central)
Advanced skills Microsoft Office Word/Excel/PowerPoint
Experience with multi-unit retail environment, experience with health care is an asset
Highly motivated team player who can work with / supervise a team and work functionally
The financial controller is deadline result oriented, and able to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
Proactive and self-motivated; excellent organizational skills; high detail orientation
