Manage daily IT operations at company headquarters and branch offices including general technical support (Helpdesk support, tele/video conferences, WebEx meetings, photocopier and fax machines, unified communications systems, etc.), data backup/recovery, vendor management, system monitoring and access control.
Participate in the development, maintenance, and monitoring of compliance of corporate policies, SOPs and standards in the following areas: network and systems security, business continuity, systems/data backup and recovery, computer access control and usage, daily administration and maintenance.
Lead computer system validation lifecycle management activities, including but not limited to the following: plan and conduct system validation projects (e.g. writing of validation plans, regulatory assessments, requirements specifications, risk analyses, trace matrices, test plans, test scripts, and final reports); define user training requirements and carryout the training; define and measure compliance to computer system validation lifecycle requirements.
Provide management oversight of network design, systems administration, and helpdesk operations.
Provide management oversight of security infrastructure, internal/external security audits, and compliance to defined security standards and procedures. Manage vendors providing 3rd party security assessment and control services.
Further develop, implement and maintain processes and procedures that will prevent or minimize system downtime, improve management and coordination of staff communication and system recovery activities during downtime, and improve incidence investigation and reporting procedures and timelines.
Investigate IT related incidents in compliance with standard procedures, working with IT staff members and functional groups where required, to determine root cause and provide a detailed documentation trail.
Manage office physical security and alarm system administration.
Provide oversight in the preparation of Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery test scripts and execution of the tests.
Review IT and Web Technology project and technical requirements, develop and oversee project planning, implement and execute project plans (including developmental and change control procedures).
Ensure good IT practices are followed, maintain quality service by training and performance management of staff members, enforcing organizational standards, and continuously improving the effectiveness and efficiency of IT and Web Technology services to the organization.
Stay informed of current security trends and best working practices, providing recommendations and enhancements to continually improve security infrastructure and related processes.
Provide feedback and oversight in planning, building, and coordination of hardware and software installation, configuration, maintenance and upgrades to the supporting infrastructure company-wide in coordination with corporate leadership and in compliance with corporate standards.
Provide oversight in the operation of business critical applications hosted by Company such as iDataFax, SAS, IWRS, InForm/Central Designer, FTP servers, eCTD manager, Oracle databases, Microsoft Exchange, SharePoint, and web portal.
Provide oversight in the management of network security systems such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, virtual private networks, anti-virus, anti-spam, web filters, and network account access, network infrastructure.
Monitor system and network performance, and work with IT staff to plan and apply preventative and corrective actions to ensure optimal performance of critical systems and network infrastructure to prevent and minimize downtime.
Assist the Senior Director with capacity planning, anticipating future network needs, and identification of proactive solutions to satisfy those needs.
Provide 7/24 on-call rotation support of business critical applications and supporting infrastructure.
Develop, implement, and maintain systems and infrastructure documentation.
Provide training to IT staff in the use of software, hardware, and technical controls where required.
Minimum 10 years of experience in an IT management role is required. Experience in a clinical research environment is desired.
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in computer science with at least 6 years of experience in systems administration is required.
5+ years of experience in systems validation project management and writing of documentation deliverables.
6+ years of experience in UNIX (Solaris) and Windows Server Systems Administration.
6+ years of experience in Checkpoint Firewall administration and maintenance.
Excellent understanding of Active Directory.
Experience in supporting of business critical applications, including Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery.
Experience in Oracle database administration.
Experience in application server administration including Oracle Java System Web Server, Tomcat 6/7, or similar technologies.
Experience in VMware and Veeam administration.
Strong organizational and facilitation skills with the ability to adapt and adjust to changing priorities, and to manage, concurrent assignments.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, prioritize work and manage deadlines.
