Summary

 

The Design Consultant, under the direction of the President and CEO, will primarily be responsible to always maintain professionalism, tact, diplomacy, and sensitivity to portray the company in a positive manner. This position will create visually appealing deck designs, with a meticulous focus on build simplicity and feasibility, maximal usable space, and suitability for customers lifestyle needs. This role will also maintain a high level of service to customers, manage the customer relationship from contract execution through delivery to after-sales service, and solicit referrals from these customers, where possible.

 

Job Duties:

  • Always maintain professionalism, tact, diplomacy, and sensitivity to portray the company in a positive manner
  • Build and maintain ongoing awareness of new products and services, competitor activities, and other research
  • Generate and develop new customer accounts to increase revenue, by cold-calling if necessary
  • Keep up-to-date records on sales calls, customer contacts, and details of meetings in a timely manner in the format required
  • Actively manage call schedule to adequately cover assigned territory in a time-efficient manner
  • Assess customers' needs and resources and recommend the appropriate goods or services
  • Adapt communication style in order to deliver information effectively to a range of individuals
  • Overcome objections of prospective customers
  • Create visually appealing deck designs, with a meticulous focus on build simplicity and feasibility, maximal usable space, and suitability for customers lifestyle needs
  • Prepare and present proposals
  • Assist in the resolution of design issues, change requests, special order materials, and customer concerns
  • Emphasize product or service features and benefits, quote prices, discuss credit terms, and prepare sales agreements
  • Conduct sales transactions through Internet-based electronic commerce
  • Maintain a high level of service to customers, manage the customer relationship from contract execution through delivery to after-sales service, and solicit referrals from these customers, where possible
  • Build and foster a network of referrals to create new opportunities for revenue growth
  • Proactively attend to customer complaints in a professional manner
  • Collect customer testimonials
  • Relay customer quality improvement suggestions for company products and services
  • Maintain accurate records, including sales, drawing specifications, permits and applications, potential expense receipts, billing invoices, and other documentation
  • Meet with employees periodically to discuss progress toward work goals
  • Encourage a positive team atmosphere that enables the department's sales team to meet or exceed sales goals and achieve consistently high levels of customer service
  • Maintain a professional appearance, demeanour, and attitude at all times

 

Job Requirements

  • Three years of related sales experience
  • Degree or diploma in a business- or sales-related field
  • Strong knowledge of sales principles, methods, practices, and techniques
  • Proven sales ability with capability to meet and surpass targets and goals
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting demands
  • Ability to quickly pick up new product and service knowledge, and communicate that knowledge effectively to customers

 

  • Demonstrated time management skills
  • Exceptional objection-handling skills
  • High flexibility with strong interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse environment
  • High level of integrity and work ethic
  • Valid driver's licence with a clean driving abstract
  • Can be legally work in Canada
